Cultivation Theory: The Cultivation theory examines the long term effects of television consumption and suggests that the more time an individual spends watching television, they are more likely to believe the representations as reality.

Self Objectification: Self-objectification refers to the internalization of an observer’s perspective on one’s own body (Fredrickson & Roberts, 1997). Objectification Theory: many women are sexually objectified & treated as objects to be valued by its use by others (Szymanski, Moffitt, Carr, 2011).
Women to some degrees internalize this outsider view and begin to Self Objectify by treating themselves as objects to be looked at and judged on the basis of their appearance.
